I love rugby, cricket, and soccer. My music tastes are obscure (somewhat niche and mostly outdated).

Edmonton, Alberta #yeg #CanPL #ccmsky
The day that Traffic Sports fell and all the US NASL teams had their first USOC matches that evening, and all the players trudged out onto the various pitches with defeated looks of whether this was it or not for pay and for a remaining season.

True nostalgia.

I think this is just a low point like Welsh Rugby is going through. There are brighter days ahead, but it will take a couple of years as the youth players start to fill in the roles.

You love to see it.

Hockey players knew that playing in Major Juniors would end any NCAA dreams. So the ones that hoped to play in the NCAA played in Junior A leagues instead.

If they have dreams of playing NCAA then they can play in USL2, UPSL, NPSL, MWPL, APSL, etc...

I mean USL2 will probably be close to a hundred and seventy clubs by season start. Let them be the summer collegiate league.

The role that #tLfC is looking to fill is one that is desperately needed.

Which it what it stands at now yes, but USSF might finally see the need for a semi-pro tier IV and set PLS for that.

They can still do a semi-pro league if they use stipends instead of straight up professional contracts and avoid tier III altogether.

Both NPSL and USL2 have teams that pay players.

If the new "pro-am" league follows how the CHL operates (which the NCAA now allows players from the CHL to play in the NCAA), then it should work.

Honestly, they should look at the Canadian Hockey League.

If the teams in this new #tLfC league offer a stipend to the players, which might be small amounts of money, then it doesn't need to be "professional contracts" and should be able to avoid PLS, while still being a viable stepping stone between fully amateur and fully professional.

Did you ever get into Damien Jurado?

I will admit that I found them "boring" in my teenage years, and only really appreciated them after they were gone.

Another layer to that is his Christian faith, but he is treated like absolute garbage by other Christians.

For me it makes his music more impactful when listening to it. An underlying feeling of isolation to a place where you should feel a sense of belonging.
