🍋 The positive impact of urban agriculture in #Johannesburg was recently explored by @powershiftafrica.bsky.social in an interview with @gendercc.bsky.social. I really enjoyed learning about this bit.ly/4pZQX1g and wish your projects the very best from cold, cold England!

The Urban Farmers of Johannesburg
As Africa’s cities grow at record speed, urban food insecurity is becoming one of the continent’s greatest challenges. The urban poor are among the most vulnerable to climate shocks, rising food prices, and limited access to nutritious food. This new documentary by Power Shift Africa explores how urban farming and adaptive agroecology are transforming in Johannesburg. From rooftop gardens to community-led food systems, we highlight innovative solutions that strengthen food security, climate resilience, and sustainable livelihoods. Featuring the inspiring work of organisations like GenderCC, the film shows how urban agriculture is empowering communities, reducing vulnerability, and reimagining Africa’s urban future. Watch now to see how urban farming in Africa is reshaping the conversation on food security and climate adaptation.

The cat uses my tulip bed as a toilet. Lucky for me, im not the only one in the area growing them. The UK imports circa 86% of their cut flowers, but tulips form some of our homegrown market, as the climate is good for them. #tulips #seasonalfloweralliance #britishflowers #britishflowergrowers
