New babies arrived at my house last Friday. Three are Golden Laced Wyandotte, and one is a Barred Rock. I had planned on getting four barred rocks, but only one was left when we arrived. #ChickenMath #Chicken

I took photos of some random things at McMenamins Grand Lodge in Forest Grove, OR. A lamp in one of the sitting rooms of the hotel, a mosaic-covered gazing ball on the patio, faces painted onto the pipes that run along the basement ceiling, and the album-covered ceiling in Pat's corner.

Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson became the first African American woman to be elected to the Supreme Court in 2021. She was born the nation’s capital in 1970 only to make history in the same place 55 years after Thurgood Marshall became the first Black male to join the Supreme Court.

Playwright Lorraine Hansberry wrote A Raisin in the Sun (1959), a play about a struggling Black family in Chicago. The play ran for 530 performances and earned Hansberry a New York Critics’ Circle award, making her the first African American to receive that recognition. #BlackHistoryMonth
