The windfarm management tracks are a firefighters dream! Easy access over rough ground, excellent dead edges.

Aircraft wise, as the article states, no different to work around than the many other hazards in the wire environment.

That's old school. Do the same thing for finding electric fence faults. Detune and listen.

Having recently experienced the Albury cafe car, the food and drink options where out classed by every dining experience I'd had on just about any train in Europe.

Back in 1987.

The highlight? The twin screen menu, showing the blue screen of death. So no menu.

A cafe it is not.

Annoys you? Destroying fire gear in protest? Using the emergency radio network to communicate political protest?

I only had one set of PPE up until recently. Not the right message.

Given that one of the aims of the group is to maximise media coverage, removing images and names should be norm.

Is ruled by expedience."

Err, missing reference?

An aside: just finished Conspiracy Nation. Great read, and fantastic future reference.

Ex Feedly user here. Inoreader is an excellent replacement. And that's the free version. Worth a good look.

"We were met with a clear, stark message: resign, transfer or comply."

Coercive control. The response to frank and fearless advice.

A tip of the sustainable cap to @frame.work My Framework 13 laptop developed a fan/heatsink fault. In very quick time, the fault was diagnosed, and a replacement heatsink/fan unit arrived.

Framework's thing is ease of repair/upgrade, the fan swap took me five minutes. Try that with Apple/Dell etc.

Typo report. Part way through the article the fantastic Destiny Deacon's surname has ben replaced by Deakin.

Deakin is more associated with the White Australian Policy, and rather strange first Dean of Sciences, but I digress.

And on the subject, that goes for intra agency data exchange. I've seen data collected and analysed by one agency, distributed to other agencies, which in turn have claimed IP and copywrite over the original data. And then selling/icensing it back to the original data creators!

In Victoria just about all data is theoretically available under the DataVic policy. In theory anyway. Many agencies and departments see data as an untapped financial opportunity. Nevermind the policy.

DataVic access policy
This policy describes the plan for enabling public access to government data based on 5 principles.

Nick, worth noting a number of agencies and organisations using remote sensing and OSINT to continually assess damage. Of course this is somewhat abstract compared to a first person view from an aircraft.

Here is the latest UN cropland damage assessment:

Same here. I joined as a volunteer to serve the community, not to hold the community to ransom for my political views. To refuse to turn out for incidents for political purposes undermines the community trust and respect for the CFA.
dale-a.bsky.social
Agree entirely. In a time of ever decreasing volunteerism, how are we to attract new volunteers from all walks of life. Brigades should reflect the community, not that of one political bent.

Just back from Stirling. Was pretty good. Decent cold front later this week as well.

That effectively ends the trust in the LCC/VEAC process. Partisan politics over frank and fearless advice.

That would be Patterson of course.
