Agree. They don’t even have to sit through ads! My attention span has changed & my children definitely have more of a struggle coming up with imaginative play compared with myself at that age. They don’t know what it is to be bored but even more important that they’re thrown outside for longer!

Taking away outside play at break as punishment or PE being cancelled or squeezed out if there’s no time should never be happening either.

I put a cowboy hat and sunglasses on him once and took a photo. It is somehow the most common photo we have of him around our houses and I realised recently that the grandkids (having never met him) grew up with an image of their grandad being some sort of Jock Ewing.

My dad was always in suit trousers, shirt and sweater vest and he had the one type of shoes, when the good ones got worn they’d be relegated to everyday. My mother didn’t wear trousers or runners until the 90’s.

Yeah I think that 99% plus of people who read that book took more away than the hire purchase thing but it haunted me! The TV, the sofa, all gone when the dad died cause they were on hire purchase! The horror started for me there!

Yep! I went straight from The O’Sullivan Twins to the Flowers in the Attic! I still have a fear of hire purchase (yes…that’s what I got from those books at 11)
