Always funny when you can pinpoint the exact moment a YouTuber articulated a specific criticism because all of a sudden every discussion has it come up with identical phrasing when no one has mentioned it before.

One of the producers on Guilty Gear Strive said it was basically impossible to source player feedback on balance changes online because nobody had original opinions and would just parrot what the most popular content creators said and so they had to rely on data and I think about that every day.

I do feel Disney's attempts to recapture that feeling has had diminishing returns, but just as I don't give R1 credit for Andor retroactively improving it, I also don't blame R1 for Disney later watering down the impact of its choices.

Yeah I enjoyed how it recontextualized Darth Vader through the eyes of ordinary people, and I found it very effective in Rogue One.

Oh yeah Ben Mendelsohn really nailed that role! I've got no complains about him or Krennic. Enjoyed him in Andor too, but that's like saying water is wet.

Regardless I agree. I'm appreciating the civil discussion here, and far be it from me to rain on anyone's enjoyment of things. Arguably all Star Wars is stupid outside of MAYBE Empire and Andor. And heck even TROS has one or two fleeting moments I liked.

I admit I enjoy the Hallway in the context of R1 but god the people glazing it get obnoxious. Saying it's all they ever want from Star Wars, or that they'd watch a whole movie of that, etc.

And then Disney heard them and started making MORE of those scenes, and I just can't.

I don't know if it was Disney as much as the fact JJ is just a derivative hack who wouldn't know an original story without pandering fan service if it bit him on the arse

I talk shit on R1 but I did LOVE how faithfully they translated the look of Star Wars '77 to the modern day.

I think TFA aged ehhh but I understand Disney's attempt to play it safe after the widespread prequel mocking. I just wish it hadn't been indicative of their entire philosophy going forward.

Oh there's also the people who watched R1 once and then rewatched their favorite parts (the final battle, the Vader Hallway, etc) on youtube a bunch but don't really remember the rest of the movie outside of broad strokes.

I feel like most people who love R1 only watched it once, or rewatched it directly after Andor.

I was hyped on R1 the first viewing too, but upon a second watch I realized it's only propped up by the 3rd act and THAT requires you to care about the cast, which it doesn't actually manage in acts 1&2.

The idea that every important moment in Han Solo's life (including stuff we didn't KNOW was important, like getting his blaster from the OT!) happened in the span of like a week, just kills Solo for me.

And honestly only TESB comes close to perfect. Every other film on the list has some glaring issues but boy do I love them anyway.

Attack of the Clones above The Last Jedi hurts but I agree with so much of this. Rogue One is overrated.
