The cost per second for a CGI effects shot in a Hollywood movie is staggering now. The budget for Cameron's 1986 movie Aliens (all practical effects, suits, puppets, miniatures) was $18.5m. Adjusted for inflation that's about $53m today. The latest Avatar movies cost about $400m each.

Practical effects and puppetry? I'm only half joking. Cameron made some of his best movies (the original Terminator movie and Aliens) when his budget was limited and he was forced to think creatively to achieve effects shots.

In Elden Ring, getting through Stormveil Castle for the first time, gazing out across the Lake of Liurnia, with Raya Lucaria Academy in the distance. It was like the cover of a fantasy novel... Just breathtaking.

Always had a soft spot for Moonwalker. Both the MD and arcade versions. Sadly a game that you never see pop up in any retro collections/NSO for obvious/complicated/legal reasons. I guess that's the risk of tying yourself to a celebrity license.

Sometimes you can just play the hits and the crowd will go wild. When you've been around that long/been successful that long (Nintendo) you can kind of get away with it. It's cheap but we all give it a pass as it's the big N.

Is this why we still don't have Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Volume 2? Which I think most people assumed would include 4, 5 and Peace Walker. Maybe they should make Vol 2 more or a collection of spin off games: Peace Walker, Portable Ops, Acid 1+2, Ghost Babel and Revengeance?
