I was in a self-catered hall at uni.

All the pots and pans were provided by the uni and we had very stern letters from the caretaking staff if stuff was left unwashed and piling up in the kitchen. And arguments amongst the residents over who used what and someone inevitably just doing it.

I remember an issue of Empire in 1992 saying that Reiner and Ridley Scott seemed to be in an unofficial contest to be the most versatile director working today, and that's always stuck with me.
