Must watch video of a Fulbright scholar with a legal visa being taken abruptly by masked agents — who don’t even show an ID.

There is no claim she committed any crimes. She co-wrote an op-ed in a student newspaper.

They could have just served notice to her to leave the country.

An incredible photo from Berlin this evening.

An estimated 100,000 have been on the streets in the German capital today to protest against the Far Right and fascism in Europe.

#Resist

Drinking an entire bottle of Club Mate around 23:30 with the intention of having a productive night session reviewing my network dataset one last (?) time was a great idea. UNTIL my STATA license expired at midnight. I believe I've now officially run out of excuses not to fully switch to R.

Yes, there will be growing pains for Blue, including the need to invest in costly cloud infrastructure, content moderation and transparency reporting. So, let’s enjoy this ad-free environment while we can. 😅

Wow, 18M+ users! bsky-users.theo.io At this rate, Bluesky is going to be declared a VLOP (a very large online platform) by year-end. Once that happens, w/in 4 months of notification, 🦋 will have to comply with the most stringent rules under the EU's DSA. digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu/en/policies/...

Joining us from Brazil, Liriam Sponholz delivered the closing remarks for the RaMi symposium online: "it's not only about the normalization of the far-right but also the mainstreaming of the radical, and the radicalization of the mainstream".
damlakeskekci.bsky.social
The final presentation of the RaMi symposium is delivered by @dom-of-tronina.bsky.social! In their joint paper with
@luke-shuttleworth.bsky.social, using discourse coalitions, they analyze reactionary feminism and the mainstreaming of the far right in the German-language magazine Emma.
damlakeskekci.bsky.social
Next up, @luke-shuttleworth.bsky.social presents a part of his dissertation research, where he questions how mainstream parties in the UK accommodate anti-migration discourses in parliamentary debates.
damlakeskekci.bsky.social
In the second presentation, Fabian Hess and Wanda Drabon, focusing on the climate movement, conducted three experiments hypothesizing that the saliency of the threat is fuel for the (further) radicalization of climate activism.
damlakeskekci.bsky.social
We start with Nicole Doerr's presentation about the (AI) images used by Europe and USA-based far-right actors for gendered mobilising against climate activists and liberal democrats.
damlakeskekci.bsky.social
Aaand it's time for the last coffee break. At 4 pm, the last panel of the symposium titled "Climate, gender, migration intersecting far-right narratives and ideologies" starts, chaired by Max Brunner.

Last but not least, Deniz T. Kılınçoğlu shared with us his insights on the ethno-religious nationalist worldview in Turkey, taught and normalized through primary school books.

Building on her personal history and intensive fieldwork, Surya Ghildiyal presented her research on how ordinary people were subjected to violence (i.e. ordinary violence), mainly driven by religious divides, by the right in India.
damlakeskekci.bsky.social
In her presentation, Karoline Maria Fernandes da
Costa e Silva speaks about the new face of the far-right in Brazil, beyond Bolsonaro, while stressing that a new and normalized disinformation ecosystem has been in the works.
