and picked up this picture of him. I went back probably an hour or so later. He smiled and said "well, if it isn't my friend Damon". Still makes me smile when I think of that. A little while later, he was featured in the Ken Burns doc and America fell in love with him too.

He was SO likable and kind! There wasn't much of a crowd so we made small talk...I was going to grad school at the time and he wanted to know about that. Some people showed up so I bid adieu but thought I needed to get a picture of him signed, also. I milled around the exhibition for a while...
