Alert to teachers, librarians, and parents: There is a line in "Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing," by Judy Blume, that reads, "Dr. Brown, our dentist, said he'd have to wait until he was six or seven to get his grown-up teeth."
Upon reading that, I had an upper elementary class chant, "6-7," at me. 🤦♀️

Being a #saturdaylibrarian so my assistant can run a writing workshop. Only one writer showed up, but it means a lot to this young person to have instruction toward their passion.

Today is a weird day. I'm getting so many meaningful compliments. I even had a student, who is moving away, thank me for being a wonderful librarian. That one nearly made me cry.

I got both my covid annual and my trivalent flu vaccines yesterday at a pop-up clinic held by the local health department. Sore arm, a little muzzy, didn't sleep well, but otherwise doing great for it!

I think my colleague Evelyn talked me into doing Summer Scares next year. Sounds like a really cool program. Might just piggyback on her Zoom calls with the authors, at least to start, for big programs. I hope horror can resonate with my patrons & open people to new genres.

Attended a great library conference last week. Caught up with many colleagues, got new ideas, relaxed & felt refreshed. And I came back to work afterwards to find good notes on my desk from my assistant, no "fires" to put out. Great working vacation.
