I have a friend who volunteers to help with a somewhat smaller con (usually like 3k people in attendance) and apparently it's also just SUPER competitive. Like this year they said that they got 3 times more viable applicants than they have space for.

A tutorial by Twitter user krumbliibjn which they say- “I kinda got u this .. what I do when I’m lazy” My replies saying- “imo, one of the tips I would probably give for drawing Black / curly hairstyles is literally just "don't overcomplicate it." When drawing straight hair you don;t usually go in drawing every individual strand but just key shapes and blocking. Curly hair is the same way but I- think a lot of people can overcomplicate it despite the fact that there are aspects of drawing really curly hair that I find much easier to draw than straight / loose hair. But that's just me.” Krumblii responding with- “I GET EXACTLY WHAT YOU MEAN I think because lotsa ppl consider curly hair ‘more detailed’ looking they end up just overthinking it and drawing w hyper detail forgetting eyes dont digest visual information like dat so it ends up a little wonky looking” And i respond- “And your tutorial is basically the way I’ve been drawing curly hair even with traditional media. I just sketch a very simplistic shape with a light line or something that’ll be replaced and then just add a curly or “rough” edge. And really curly hair tends to have volume and keep its shape more than long and loose straight hair. So there’s actually plenty of situations where it’s actually easier to draw for a lot of people imo once you get past that hurdle (sans complex hairstyles).”
