All software systems used or operated (in any form) by a group of humans are socio-technical in nature. If the "socio" part breaks down, or it's not even discussed, the technical part won't help you. This is why concepts like SLOs and scorecards are harder to roll out effectively than they may seem.

Thanks! Yeah I checked with ReadID Me which also scans the identity page (and I think reads the MRZ). All good. I only had one stamp on this one and there's no ink leaking through or anything. Only some minor stretching of the binding due to press drying it with kitchen roll in between pages.

...I have found out that new passport standards are awesome, and the newer passport, which holds both e-visas, is pretty much intact and shows no signs of water damage. I think I may have gotten away with it!

I think they already report interest earned to HMRC, at least if it goes over the standard personal allowance. I'm with you, though!
