No. Because he was the first Tory MP to criticise Powell after Rivers of Blood. He fought for the regeneration of Liverpool and other "blighted" urban centres (not always successfully) in the 80s and never scapegoated immigrants or the poor. He was part of a foul Thatcher govt but he was not foul.

I think that in terms of stock valuations and because of Wall Street’s limited patience, it’s a bubble. But these are extraordinary companies with extraordinary technologies and there’s every chance they fulfil their promise eventually. I don’t much like it either.

Look at Reform in the UK. Terrifyingly high support but it does split the right wing vote which helped Labour get an unrepresentative massive general election win. But if Reform can make their vote more geographically efficient they could be very dangerous. Be careful what you wish for…
