Would you agree to remove all subsidies from them then, if green energy is the cheapest to produce?

My best guess about Keir was that he was aware of the guy (had raised his case in Parliament and even mentioned his social media!) but was unaware about the specific posts in questions. Not an excuse - five minute Google would have brought them up, but even worse for those briefing him.

Agreed. Gaffe from Labour strategy perspective. I wonder if this has prompted labour leaders to realise the civil service/system will keep serving these gaffes up to them unless they apply a critical eye. Weirdly makes me more sympathetic towards them despite being less politically aligned than you!

Citizenship can be taken away for dual citizens with connections to terrorist organisations or who pose serious security threat. That applies to him and not to you.
December 30, 2025 at 2:11 PM
Basically in agreement with you, so to nitpick - is this a gaffe or simply what you would expect our system to produce? (As intended, to borrow a phrase)

Explicit support for terrorism is a bar that allows dual citizenship to be revoked. Seems a good starting point. Does not require a conviction.

Median public opinion is somewhere around Friday.

but the 1st purpose of demanding the inq was to get recognition by political class & society of there being a major problem. I see the same here - demands for a RC aren't for a RC per se, but the recognition of the scale of the problem. Not something to be brushed away with 'lessons learnt exercise'
December 29, 2025 at 9:28 PM
Interesting, thanks. There is an interesting parallel with the grooming gang inquiry in the UK. Lots of people saying it wasn't quite the right thing (in that case they are wrong; am inquiry is definitely is a critical part of bringing justice),
December 29, 2025 at 9:27 PM
It depends whether there is a desire to more broadly understand the growth of Islamic extremism and org crime in Australia. If you do, then a RC could compel witnesses and start to describe the problem generally. If you simply want to say what happened in this specific case, then yes, less useful.

I mention those ones because at least two are included in his list and I think it is easy to be cynical. My view is he does deserve credit for at least some of them, which is easy to miss with the dominant anti-Trump views on BS.
December 29, 2025 at 7:54 PM
Azerbaijan-Armenia, North Korea or Abraham Accords - would you give him any credit for any of those? Id include Gaza War too but know that you will disagree so leave that out.
December 29, 2025 at 6:51 PM
Irrespective of his phrasing, do you accept he has had any positive impact on bringing peace?
December 29, 2025 at 6:42 PM
I'm in both places and have not seen anyone he is claiming that he is not a citizen, just either he should not have been given it, or that it should now be taken away. At very least the literal Prime Minister shouldn't be celebrating someone with his views arriving as a top priority.
December 29, 2025 at 5:25 PM
Also a legal fact that citizenship of dual citizens can be removed in cases of terrorist or national security threat when judged to be conducive to the public good.
December 29, 2025 at 5:15 PM
Lol. You should try out:

Not answering my question. Is it good that the three top Ministers in Gov described it as a top priority and gushed about a Holocaust denier and gay hater coming to Britain?
December 28, 2025 at 7:30 PM
I can't find the exact photo but it was similar to the black and white Shahada ones here. People saying it was just an expression of faith, despite it often being used to signal extremist views, depending on context, as per Wiki: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jihadis... . That's only my best guess though.
December 28, 2025 at 5:23 PM
I don't know I'm afraid. I've never posted anything about gender (have views but not particularly novel ones). Posted in support of Trump's strikes on Nigeria ISIS just before. Maybe my one about Islamists waving an ISIS flag in Sydney? Some upset with me it was actually a different jihadi flag.

This is a new account :( made v similar to my old one (see different spellings of Rhonnda) but all previous posts deleted and all my followers gone. A cynic would say the system working as intended...
December 28, 2025 at 5:11 PM
I appreciate that Carl, both the compliment and raising the question! I'm curious too - they don't give you an explanation, just delete your account and all your posts. If the moderators do review, the account was 'danielderhonnda' - just interested in the reason.. cheers again Carl :)

Yeah... This isnt good news.
December 28, 2025 at 1:51 AM
He's a Holocaust denying homophobic terrorist sympathiser. And now our neighbour. What's the good news again?
