First book recommendation this year! "The Haves and Have-Yachts" is a great collection of features on people with too much money. It's about Yachts, but also about politics and crime and greed. Osnos has been writing about rich people for years, his access is great, his insights are too.

I wrote about something that has been bugging me for quite some time. I did it during a creative nonfiction class at Harvard. A great way to explore a new part of my voice. So I want to recommend my writing teacher’s book to you. A lot of the things we talk about in class, you can find in there.

AI will take over and we will lose a lot of journalism jobs. But it’s not about trying to keep as many journalists employed as possible, it’s about providing the best information to the public. So how do we have value? I think it involves investigative journalism and community building. 1/2

It’s been 3 months at Harvard! I learned a lot about building social impact companies, about the many ways we’re destroying our planet, about the hard-right, about trust in news, about leadership, about AI and creative non-fiction writing. I also met so many amazing people. Onto the next 8 months.

“It’s not realistic to say ‘don’t get your news on TikTok.’ Instead, why don’t we say we’re going to make the news on TikTok better?” News Creator Corps is training creators to use journalism methods and report more accurately. This is such a good program.
