I have 100% trade deficit with the supermarket where I buy my groceries. So I have inflicted a 50% Tarriff on them. So now I can’t get my weekly shop unless I also give half the value in additional cash to my own government. That’ll teach them 🤷‍♂️

Actually it’s quite common during wartime. Many countries did similar during ww2, including the USA which limited workers flights, made it easier to hire and fire, froze pay and introduced a “no strike” pledge with workers unions.

So then I told him we’d appoint an egg tsar to restrict the flow of cheap poultry products across the border from Canada to USA

Those people calling for Ukraine to stop fighting back at their aggressor are arguing that Ukraine should surrender to the invading army save lives. That worked out well for every country that did in WW2 didn’t it?
Would you congratulate Trump for handing over California, Oregon, Alaska if it were u

It would be nice if there was a well priced goal hanger group subscription rather than each individual ones

He makes Liz Truss look competent. And she was surpassed by a lettuce. I wonder if America will wake up to Trump before an Avocado expires

Whilst the unhindered ability to create bots is a concern, and I appreciate your efforts, the story isn’t supported by the git logs where the most inflammatory Trump styled examples were created 22 Dec. So almost 2months after the election. Shame it’s not more convincing. github.com/elizaos/eliz...

…is that whenever you switch tariffs you get a slightly worse deal, and there’s no point comparing old tariffs for a switch,so when you go back and look historically it can only project data from when the tariff starts and invariably it’s a self fulfilling prophesy that you’re on the right tariff
January 21, 2025 at 6:26 PM
OctopusCompare shows you a comparison between the tariff you’re on and another tariff based on your actual usage. Optionally it can even hypothesise how you might have shifted your consumption hours on the new tariff, like here. Can do day, week, month year. The trouble is I suspect…
