Just a guy making a living from selling really good wines to likeminded people.
To conclude the government especially Treasury simply thinks it knows best. The facts show it simply doesn’t and continues to fuck it up. But their incompetence and general fuckwittery is costing hard working ordinary people jobs. So the time has come forTreasury to pull its head out of it arse.

I suggest this to Reeves two years ago and again it was understood as a good idea. Scrap excise all together, and introduce a 45% Vat rate on all alcohol, this would then make tax on alcohol much fairer it would also remove a number of barriers to trade. In turn creating a positive laffer curve.

So because alc excise is on the wrong side of the taxation laffer Curve you can expect government excise receipts to drop by another £1Bn over 2026/7. Now of course there is a very quick solution to increasing alcohol revenue and reducing the red tape Brexit burden…

Now whilst is bad she has made the mistake knowingly last year and lost £1,000,000,000 in funds in the process, to make the SAME mistake in this years budget demonstrates gross incompetence not only from Reeves but HM treasury advisors. Even the OBR told them to leave alcohol excise alone.

So for a chancellor that tells you they are doing everything they can to help the economy, well frankly that’s utter bollocks. She knowingly made wrong choice and went with poor legislation that should have be dumped but instead increased excise against professional trade advise.

Needless to say Rachel Reeves knew at 100% that pressing ahead with the alcohol reform policy would damage government receipts and create a further Brexit barrier to trade. Now we are some way down the road the OBR confirmed excise receipts on wine have dropped £1bn in the past year.

At the time I had my Twitter account with many MP’s following including Rachel Reeves. Needless to say back in 2023 I had a conversation with her directly about how the alcohol reform policy would damage government receipts. She confirmed she understood. Labour then got into power.

In February 2025 the excise rates went up considerably and the crazy excise reform system was introduced. Some who have followed my campaigns will know I warned as far back as 2021 in various broadsheets the system was flawed and if introduced would reduce government excise receipts. I was right.

Guess what it’s all pro #Trump and pro #Musk and even pro Tommy Robinson. I haven’t asked to see their shit but Twitter wants to feed it to their user base. If proof were needed the racist are controlling much of the social media narrative…
