I’m profoundly uninterested in the “cultural safety” of the status quo, especially when that culture is predicated on a violent, racist and discriminatory dominance. You do not get to invoke this language to erase those already disadvantaged and discriminated against - it is entirely obscene.
"CULTURAL SAFETY" FOR THE GENOCIDAL The so-called "cultural safety" of Zionists, or sensitivities, as the Board termed it, is being used to try to erase Palestinians from public life, from public existence, it has been cited in virtually every case of discrimination, in hysterical calls to ban the kheffiyeh, ban the watermelon, ban all Palestinian colours —this is what Dr Abdel-Fattah is against. You do not get to claim that you require a literal apartheid in order to feel "culturally safe", that everyone else's rights are subordinate to yours, particularly as the literal apartheid state you are politically aligned to is carrying out the most heinous crimes against humanity imaginable, which you not only refuse to condemn, you actively defend and materially support. This is a dystopian fucking nightmare. Indeed, if you do require an apartheid to feel safe-remembering that what is real and what is felt are two different things— by all means, go live in Israel, where that violent state of being is already enacted.
