I wish more people knew about “Garth Marenghi's Darkplace.” Seriously, go watch a couple of episodes. Just because he doesn’t exist doesn’t mean he can’t be my idol. I make sure he is always with me when I write.

I’ll admit The King in Yellow isn’t the easiest read, but there’s no denying how great a character the King is, and Carcosa is still the gold standard for spooky outer worlds.

Jordan Peele’s “Nope” shows a beautiful angelic alien entity as the primary antagonist. Definitely notes of this in mine. This is my favorite movie of his.

From the best Christmas movie of all time, the Muppet’s Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come was exceptionally spooky. Big fan of voids for faces. A+

What’s the point of writing a spooky book if you didn’t do it by the light of the skull candle? They cover this in Fiction Writing 101. . . I assume. I never took any classes.

“Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark” was far too scary to be in elementary school libraries, mostly because of Stephen Gammell’s illustrations. This one from “Oh, Susannah!” stuck with me and made its way in.

My favorite cosmic horror movie, “The Lighthouse” is an incredible take on the tale of Prometheus stealing fire. Dafoe and Pattinson descend into madness with captivating performances. Can’t wait to watch again.

He’s on the Mt Rushmore of video game villains for a reason – the one-winged angel himself, Sephiroth. The more I think about it, this was the character that planted the seed for this book decades ago.

“The Great God Pan” really holds up well for being written in 1894. I love stories about a veil being lifted and humans seeing what they were never meant to.

Nightwish is my favorite band. This was the album that got me hooked. The cover art here is based on a real sculpture named “The Angel of Grief” and it is devastatingly beautiful.

Midnight Mass was fantastic on so many levels. The literal interpretations of the more frightening parts of the bible really hit home for me. It also explored the fascinating dark side of blind devotion. Due for a rewatch.

What inspired me to write this book? Mostly this. This art scares me more than anything.

Brisela, Voice of Nightmares. The idea that perfect, holy angels could also be corrupted and twisted by elder gods terrifies me.

Clint Cearley's amazing work shows that in horrible detail.

It's happening! I have finished my debut novel "The Angel's Song"!

I want to share as much as I can about it with the world, along with my journey towards getting my it published.

I know I'm not socially active, but looking to change that now. More to come!
