My first public television station was KUHT in Houston, VHF channel 8 (now part of @houstonpublicmedia.bsky.social). It was America's first educational television station and an early member of National Educational Television (NET).

Now that I don't need to wear eyeglasses, I'm looking back almost 60 years ago at when I started wearing eyeglasses. I don't think that these were my first pair of eyeglasses, but they were among the first. I was about 9 or 10 in this photo. (Yep, I was a towhead!)

In 1968, Maybelle M. Fletcher (pictured) founded Fletcher Aviation at Houston’s Hobby Airport, which is where my mom (Fran Flanagan) learned to fly in the early 1970s. Maybelle flew her first solo flight in 1941 at the age of 16 and she founded her first flying school in 1945 at the age of 21.

I imagine she was about 17 in this photo, taken in about 1914, when she traveled from Texas (Arkansas?) to NYC to attend a finishing school.

Looks like #GoogleFiber in my part of #ATX is down. This has been a very rare occurrence for me, never more than a few minutes. I hope this estimate is wrong and it’s fixed sooner.
