Maybe, but there is no one currently out there who is capable and not without baggage at the moment.

Still not sure that this means he's not clean. If we take that as a yardstickcan any of us take the morel high ground? I k ow i have given people the benefit of the doubt against my better judgement.

Yes, except for the extent of the Epstien connection, maybe. Which made him the perfect person for the role at this time.

Not just that, the younger generations just dont have that same connection with Pubs. They spend more time and what little money they have on staying healthy amongst a raft of other cheaper and, probably, more enjoyable pastimes than sitting in a grotty pub.

I'll just be happy that Matthew Goodwin will lose no matter who wins. That is probably the more pertinent aspect of this by-election.

Had a conversation with my Dad about stuff like this. He was saying "but I dont click on anything" he couldn't get the fact that he didnt have to click on anything specific. He couldn't grasp that visiting something as 'innocent' as visiting the Daily Mail website reading articles did this.

Also by diplomacy and aid. I visited Kenya about 15 years ago and their whole infrastructure was being built by China. Its being won with soft power as well.

Correct, but the other way around. Media then politicians. Until that chain is broken we will continue to be in this doom loop.

That's not a Westminster problem. That's a societal problem. We're just seeing the symptoms of the problem that has been created to drive division instead of understanding.

In terms of differing yet sustainable ideas you need a decent alternative/opposition.
It encourages decent debate, gets you thinking rather than battling and hopefully leads to more understanding. Otherwise, its just Left/Right binary and nuance dies.

For the Conservatives to remain relevant, the head bangers need to continue to leave. This will cause them to course correct. Perhaps reaching out to the Guakes, Stewart and Rudd's of this world. Give the look of a grown up party and perhaps campaign on a rejoin EU ticket.

We won't get one of those. The defections will see to that. We might get a hung parliament but the damage being done to both Cons and Refuk brands will be enough to not see either one of those getting enough seats to dictate terms.
