Maybe UK can offer to give away the Falklands instead, as it is also icy and in the Western hemisphere?

Yes

China didn’t do this. Putin has never done it. The trick is to dominate him and make him think you have leverage. The best way is to kick them where he think US is strong. Cancel F-35s. Ban X. . If he escalates, restrict export of ASML. Break up the European parts of Google and Meta, and so on.

There must be some really incriminating shit in the Epstein files. We have had a non-stop circus since he was told to hand them over.

Haha, no, Trump’s razor (the stupidest explanation is true) says it is the Mercator projection.

If EU was not a geopolitical player, you would not care about this.
January 19, 2026 at 8:36 PM
A run on the dollar is unlikely until it is a fact
January 19, 2026 at 6:45 PM
Good to see that she is onboard on punishing Putin.
January 17, 2026 at 9:38 PM
Understandable, since EU is US rich but with China manufacturing.
January 17, 2026 at 8:29 PM
Yeah, good thing EU is a true superpower and now everybody will now.
January 17, 2026 at 8:23 PM
Sure, a €30 trillion economy that controls silicone lithography and 5G base stations (if you don’t want to buy Chinese) has no leverage whatsoever.
January 17, 2026 at 8:04 PM
Sure, meek Dr Evil-level of pathetic blackmail will make EU fall apart. More likely, this is a strong sign that Republican senators and the military has told him to knock it off. No invasion for you.
January 17, 2026 at 7:06 PM
I think this is the biggest tell that the military and republican senators have told him to knock it off.
January 17, 2026 at 6:26 PM
Yes, this is a show of weakness, not only in that he is punishing his own people, but also that there is nothing else he can do. Pathetic.
January 17, 2026 at 6:16 PM
Also, 10% tariffs? This is Dr Evil-level of pathetic blackmail.

Dude, it is Greenland in January. Two dogsled patrols and a climate that kills is all you need.
January 14, 2026 at 8:30 PM
Yes, FX in particular. If USD drops 20-30% against the euro (it dropped 12 % last year) even cash deposits in euros will look attractive. ECB can create unlimited amounts of euros.

I am unconvinced the US would trade Ramstein and other European bases for Greenland (which would be the minimum result of a military assault on Greenland, plus of course sanctions). That would completely cripple their power projection in the Middle East.
January 7, 2026 at 11:21 PM
This might be true about central Europe (Germany, in particular) but the window is already closed in the north and in the south. JEF and Poland is a much tougher nut to crack for Russia than Ukraine. Italy, Greece and France are quite capable too. The north and the south are also both nuclear armed.
January 7, 2026 at 11:15 PM
Yes, VZN seems more like a shady deal within the ruling regime than a conquest. If VZN is conquered, why is the US Navy still rounding up tankers? Also, abducting Maduro does not seem much of a beheading, it is more like snatching the boat bunny.

This lot is rather creating their hyper-reality. It will still bite their asses.
January 7, 2026 at 9:50 PM
Sudetenland was at least populated by Germans, and Czechoslovakia and Nazi-Germany were not allies. This is an unusually moronic move. I would not be surprised if some Swedish carrier-killer subs, French SSBNs and perhaps a French carrier group starts to patrol the Baffin Bay.
January 6, 2026 at 10:14 PM
A mechanism that redistribute wealth and power from the old to the young seems more like a solution than a challenge at the present, no? Also, a declining world population is likely the only plausible way to mitigate the climate crisis at the moment.
January 6, 2026 at 11:41 AM
I mean, if a carrier group appears outside Nuuk, all bets are off, I suppose. Unless it is a French carrier group.
