Millions of people stay in terrible jobs they hate because quitting means losing your health insurance. Employers know this and lobby against anything that would change this. Without that leverage they'd actually have to offer better pay/perks/work-life balance to hire & keep their labor force.

Idk much about Philosophy or this professor, but maybe that's the point she was trying make. Like if you're somehow forced to pick between those 2 options you have to make the less moral choice initially to ultimately achieve the most good? Idk if that's right, still a messed up question
