I did it! I finished this in 3 days, totaling 17.5 hours.

I’m 12 hours in on this so far. I started this Friday and I’ve been trying to get it finished this weekend. I’ve got a lot to do on the details. But I feel good about it so far. I’m really pushing myself.

Working on making the front lily pads more crispy. I’ll be slowly finishing this one as a start some new projects.

Sharing my painting of chickens again.
It’s a small water-mixable oil painting on canvas. I took the ref photo at a wedding I was invited to and asked to help photograph. There were so chickens and I fell in love with these two sharing a chair.

Still working on the lily pads piece. I missed my self imposed deadline. Now I’m grumpy… and I can’t paint when I’m grumpy.

Running out quickly of these two colors. Each tube cost about $15. Every print I sell buys me one new tube of paint. My husband is still out of work and his severance checks end today. I can’t in good conscience keep buying art supplies and digging us into a hole.

Another section of the show. I had an abstract era from 2017-2021. Called these “Invisible Monsters”. They were inspired by my failing mental health and symptoms I was experiencing. When creating these, I realized that drawing simple repetitive shapes was really soothing.

I fixed it. Took me an hour to finish painting that lil area. It’s not nearly as detailed and clean as I’d like. But I’ve trashed all my detail brushes with my heavy-handedness. Waiting for some more 0/20 brushes to arrive. My local store doesn’t carry them unfortunately.

I messed up. I miscounted, tried to fix it and everything was getting far too muddy. So I wiped it away with a paper towel. I’ll have to try that area again in a little bit.
My brain and body are just so tired. I shouldn’t have touched it today. 😞

My house has 36 less pieces of art in it today. It was bittersweet to drop them off for the show… almost like dropping off kids at school… hoping they stay safe and people are nice to them.
… but unlike actual children, I’d like someone to buy them so they don’t come back.
