PSA for classic film fans: a bunch more (40+) new-to-digital films are now live on digital retailers like Apple, Amazon, Fandango, etc. Several new Abbott & Costello films (Little Giant, Lost in Alaska, Who Done It?, etc), film noir Larceny, 70's adventure Swashbuckler, Remember the Night, and more!

THE SMASHING MACHINE features some incredible scene-to-scene filmmaking from Benny Safdie. And Safdie helps Dwayne Johnson to the best dramatic performance of his career. But, struggled a bit finding meaning here. Hard to know what to make, exactly, of this story or of this film in a larger sense.

A fun night at Knott’s Scary Farm. Super crowded though. Managed to do the two new mazes, and see two shows. Always love the spooky vibes and sense of total immersion.

Man, it was great to see Daniel Day-Lewis - in full-on hellfire and brimstone mode, no less - back on the big screen again in ANEMONE. And he's got a great sparring partner in Sean Bean, too. Gravitas aplenty in this one. I won't call it a comeback just yet, but I sincerely hope it is one for DDL.

Streamed services from Ikar in LA last night and today for Yom Kippur. Hearing smart, passionate leaders like Doug Emhoff and Rabbi Sharon Brous take a moral stand, and a stand of resistance - but one based on love and not rage ... was the kind of inspiration and hope I needed in this moment.
