From somebody who hasn't rewatched it in ten years, so light on the specifics: the main problem was that it was depressing. The Muppets should be having a good time putting on a show - Kermit was often frazzled in TMS but still loved show business. 2015 Kermit was just suffering.

Nope, close your eyes for that scene and then you're good. Keep watching, it's a fantastic show!

I saw it on Broadway way back in the day, probably the funniest play I've ever seen.
