Give it two years before you make any big decisions. Don’t expect to read as many books as you think you will. One advantage is that it gives you more time around hospital appointments. The best is if you have grandchildren living close by, make a point of picking them up from school often.

I’ve always found it a strange definition to call the VVD “Liberals“ they sit with the RE faction in the European Parliament, but in word and deed they are surely a Conservative Party ?

HP sauce is produced at the Heinz plant in Elst here in the Netherlands, you can buy it in most Dutch supermarkets. Walkers shortbread is also stocked in Albert Heijn XL supermarkets on a special stand along with Mackays preserves.

I remember them well, every shoe shop had one, it was fun to see your toes wiggle inside your shoes. Then suddenly they disappeared, and they were not spoken about. For me it was only once a year or so whenever I needed new shoes, but I wonder how many shoe show employees suffered long term damage?

It’s many years since I was in Taiwan, mid 80’s, but the road across the island from Taichung to Hualien was spectacular also the east coast road from Hualien back to Taipei.

Yes I took the bus to go to a football match, Blackpool vs Blackburn, although to be fair, Christmas Day football was becoming an exception wi the games gradually switching to Boxing Day.
