It’s a bad idea to deliver #healthcare in free markets because there’s infinite demand to avoid death. It’s a bad idea to deliver #education in free markets because there is zero demand to avoid ignorance.

I wish David Brooks could be more nuanced in his assessment of higher ed and “elitism”. Two things he missed:
1. Conservatives who rail against elite colleges actually benefit from them (eg Bush, Vance).
2. Adjuncts, who are exploited and therefore not “elite” teach half of all college classes.
