A basement disco somewhere in central London. Can't remember what it was called. Bodies Without Organs were also on the bill. They were great too.

Have done. Both album and issue are something of a dog's dinner. Very much enjoying Howard up to this point, and hoping he's not jumped the shark.

When you see people on here posting about a gig while it's still actually happening in front of them... I wish they wouldn't do that.

Not sure I'll be ready to go this deep until at least my fifteenth read...

Iodine, the closing track of her 2003 LP, predicts with total clarity the looming threats of F*r*g*ism and Br*x*t. The best protest song since Nazi Punks, and also an undiscovered Christmas banger.

Took me a good few decades too. It hits you like a hammer, but you'll recover in time.

We loved it there. It was Stockbridge for people who couldn't afford to live in Stockbridge.

We lived in one of those Baronial buildings. On the ground floor, though – turret envy is a real and dangerous thing.

I've finally unlocked my DMs, so if you could send over your intriguing dossier I would be very grateful...

❌ No way. We're end-of-terrace and I've never for a moment considered our house to be semi-detached.

I've had him singing Stephin Merritt's 'In the City in the Rain' on constant repeat lately. Not sure he would play that...

That's where I found about all this. I particularly enjoyed the line about them headbutting an omelette.

I've hacked my way through uncle Rupert's paywall. Their sneering dismissal of Sarah Doyle's very real concerns is straight out of the Canongate Books style guide. Show them an apple and they'll say 'This is not an apple. We have nothing to add to this.' Gaslighting/stonewalling 101.
