The ability to temporarily set emotion aside to deal with an immediate crisis is a skill that can save lives.
Once the crisis is over, however, embracing those emotions is part of the healing process. It's healthy, and ultimately makes the person stronger.

I wound up asking this because I’ve heard “it doesn’t ask a lot of its audience” while discussing a movie, and my reaction was “well, yeah.

I wonder how unusual it is that I find neither outfit appealing. The shiny not-a-bikini looks like a design that would work a lot better drawn than worn. Actually, Kirk's outfit would probably look better drawn, too. Maybe clothes just look better when illustrated and able to defy reality?
