All those Guest mockumentaries hold up for the most part but then leave a bitter taste right at the very end (Waiting for Guffman ends well actually, but A Mighty Wind is the worst in this regard)

this is exactly right, multiverse stuff is inarguably lame but it's because it's now a tool for brand synergy. More "earnest" multiverse fiction is lamer as a result but that's collateral damage

I have a memory of them having more humor than this, but if I interrogate that just a bit I realize the "humor" I'm remembering was completely unintentional (mostly me thinking Britishisms are goofy)

But also I'm not sure what their other options were. I think the price sucks but they just gotta deal with it somehow, this is what stuff like this costs nowadays

It's priced similarly to things in the handheld gaming PC market (that didn't exist when the Switch 1 was released), and those machines are marketed towards enthusiasts more used to spending $$$ on hardware

I like the *concept* because 46 degrees legitimately can feel very different based on a variety of factors. But we all know that in reality it's a nonsense number

I feel like a snob phase in booze/art/cuisine/whatever appreciation is healthy and instructive, even/especially if you come out the other side of it with ironically-mainstream tastes

The only valid use of the Super Audio CD was more channels. But... nobody actually wants more channels. It's "valid" because it makes technical sense not because it's desirable.

I've only ever had Turkish Delight from one place (handmade locally) and it rules, but "turkish delight is terrible" is such a common opinion that the stuff I know CAN'T be representative

Second biggest variable is where you land on the goal-fulfillment vs goofin'-around spectrum of how you enjoy games; some people will spend hours trying on every outfit in a souls game and spinning around just to gawk at the differences in cloth physics

I think the biggest variable resulting in playtime difference is degree of attention given to the game. Multiscreen multitasking, leaving the game running while answering a phone call from family, etc. My hour count for many games is hugely inflated by stuff like this

Reviews on bluray dot com (and other physical media review publications) read exactly like this. To be fair those genuinely ARE product reviews, but they always have a paragraph or two about the actual movie and they're hilariously clinical and useless

Also I probably don't need to tell you this but Jeannie will talk to you (or anyone tbh) for as long as you will allow about planning trips to Japan. I mean, I would too, but she's a much better resource.

I know it would feel like this regardless because of how getting older effects time perception, BUT ALSO, "console generations" getting longer and longer means "retro" games have never felt more recent

This is remarkably bad. This makes so much other embarassing 2000s novelty stuff look good by comparison. This makes Richard Cheese seem like a musical genius.
