I wonder if he's taken the population of England in 2020 and then added three more countries in the years since

Could be at a discount to market I suppose, to account for the remarketing costs, but just strikes me as insane that companies like this can essentially mis-sell properties and be allowed to completely wash their hands of it while still raking in the service charges

I guess in this case, where the heir of the property has already discounted it, there will be an even lower price it will sell at but obv hard to know what that would be.

I wonder what's stopping requirements on your McCarthy Stones to buy homes back from their deceased residents' estates

Rents on new tenancies in London haven't been rising as much as they were a couple of years ago so you might have a decent negotiating position - got some tips here www.generationrent.org/rights/my-la...

Of course, not making your plan clear is one thing when it's controversial - the surprising bit is the media's general avoidance of it

It surprises me how little discussion of this there has been, especially in light of Labour's perceived lack of vision/strategy.

Even if apparently awkward tax rises on businesses are part of the plan, they do seem at odds with stuff like reviving our high streets

I believe that's roughly what they have in Wales - though landlords can outsource a lot of that if they use an agent

We're getting much of this - a publicly accessible database with compliance details tbc - as part of the RRA.

Though large HMOs are already required to have a licence and renters can get a rent refund if they don't. Unclear from report whether the councillor had this...

If govt hits 1.5m housebuilding target by end of Parliament and sustains those levels, “we will be looking at the levelling out of prices and then over the real medium- to long-term perhaps their gradual reduction”

Assume they'll need 400k/y by 2028/29 to achieve that, then that's probably true.
