You're very wrong. The welfare office are nasty, punitive shits who delight in humiliating you for needing their help. The tax office (who pay out our tax credits) are morally neutral and treat us with some respect.

I think that's a vital point, that there's a real difference between the US having a fascist government and being a fascist state (the first definitely true right now, the second I'm not sure whether it's actually possible before civil war/balkanization)

The article describes Edwards as a "Left pundit", but an US observer would recognise him as a reactionary centrist, or a Brit as a Starmerite.
