The island of Crete saw a staggering 2,642 migrant arrivals in the 1st week of July. Since the temporary suspension of asylum claims that took effect on July 9, arrivals dropped at below 900 for the rest of July, acc to the ministry of migration.

507 arrivals were recorded until August 24.

A shocking act of animal cruelty took place on Sunday night, August 24, in Ermionida, #Greece, when an elderly man drove his car with a dog tied to the back. The animal was dragged across the road until it died. Police arrested the perpetrator.

Billionaire and Volt CEO, Tom Greenwood, was airlifted at a public hospital in Athens following a road accident in Mykonos. Greenwood underwent emergency surgery at the Nikaia General Hospital and remains in the ICU.

Greece’s health minister confirmed the incident on Greek TV.

A #wildfire that broke out on the Greek island of #Chios on Tuesday is still raging. According to the Fire Service, coastguard boats and private boats have been evacuating people from Limnia and Agia Markella beaches.

Areas northwest have also received evacuation alerts.
