That's because Charlie Savage is one of the very best reporters on the Times.

Whitaker says Russia "earned" territory by invading Ukraine. I suppose by that criterion, Hitler "earned" the Sudetenland by the Munich Conference.

The reverse of what he says about last fall is true. On Nov. 1, pre-election, the BLS reported anemic job growth for October--12,000. On Dec. 6, the BLS reported strong growth for November and revised Sept. and Oct. numbers modestly upward. This is a guy who claims he'll reduce drug prices by 1500%!

Perhaps also Justice Amy Comey Barrett, author of the opinion, might have mentioned that Samuel Bray was her colleague at Notre Dame Law School?

Perhaps Professor Bray is just being modest. Perhaps the Times should have made him mention that he's a leading citation for the opinion that blocks nationwide injunctions from lower courts and endangers birthright citizenship. In effect, he's given the opportunity to compliment himself.
