1) Source Credibility

This is the origin of the data. High grade data comes from academics, experts, peer reviewed journals, journalists working with editorial boards, whistleblowers.

Low grade data comes from substack style sites, social media, talking heads, celebrities, gen. AI, wikis. [2/3]

Or they grew up in households with embittered parents, and are acting out their rhetoric and upbringing.

So I am doing "Competency Grading" for the kids in my Teachers Strike Book Club. Two are reading I Robot, two are reading Brave New World, one is reading The Left Hand of Darkness.

I have 10 journal entries I went through tonight. OMG it took so long. Teachers are woefully underpaid.

But what is she doing?

Picking fights with the fed, and all the other provinces.

Everyone else is pulling together as a nation, and she is dragging Alberta off into the weeds.

It's infuriating.

Smith currently has her phone line off as it gets slammed with 50,000+ calls a day because she picked a fight with the teachers union. She has a separatist crisis in the wings. She has a budget that is failing to deliver because oil and gas don't pay taxes. She has 6(!) UCP MLAs under investigation.

B.C. Premier David Eby is clearly beyond frustrated with Danielle Smith's pipeline dreams threatening the B.C. economy.

In a fiery statement, he called her out directly stating...

"This is not the Danielle Smith show!"

Then that goes out to the photographers who have licensed their work to the stock image firms, to estates for some IP, and into the pockets of other billionaires.

This isn't an impossible task.
daraddishman.bsky.social
You go to a big IP company like Getty or Corbis or Adobe and ask to license their stock photography and video catalogue. They have images going back to the dawn of photography in their collections.

They give you a price. Likely somewhere in the billions per year. And you pay it.

Gonna be thinking about this lede for a minute.
(RNS) — Last month, the Rev. David Black stood in front of a Chicago-area U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility and spread his arms wide. Adorned in all black and wearing a clerical collar, the pastor looked up at a group of masked, heavily armed ICE agents on the roof and began to pray.

“I invited them to repentance,” Black, a minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA), said in an interview. “I basically offered an altar call. I invited them to come and receive that salvation, and be part of the kingdom that is coming.”

But when Black began to lower his arms a few seconds later, the agents responded to his spiritual plea by firing pepper balls, or chemical agents that cause eye irritation and respiratory distress, video footage shows. One struck Black in the head, exploding into a puff of white pepper smoke and forcing him to his knees. Fellow demonstrators rushed to his aid, and as the pastor rubbed his face in pain, the agents continued to fire.

“We could hear them laughing,” Black said.

Nobody knows, God. Nobody knows.

Us meager mortals are just hunkering down with our late stage capitalism watching Dropout TV and hoping that American insanity confines itself to the USA.

I can't imagine.

The next steps in Canada are universal dental healthcare (because teeth aren't optional bones) and universal mental healthcare (because functional brains aren't optional organs).

But, alas, we have Alberta and conservatives trying to rob us into an American system.

It's been heavily discussed in theology and seminary for over a decade, and a topic of importance since the 1990's. Shocker, the warnings speakers to power (ie: prophets) were giving are coming to pass.

Vine Deloria* sorry, autocorrupt
daraddishman.bsky.social
If you can find some Vine Deloris Jr, Randy Woodley, Ray Aldridge they are a good spot. Tinker is a theologian that links Liberation Theology and Indigenous Theology directly. Highly recommend them.
daraddishman.bsky.social
Have you read much of the queer theology that developed parallel to liberation theology? There is a subset that are just starting to intersect, and didn't arise out of Gutierrez, but rather north american bipoc communities, particularly indigenous theology.

Is a cat playing with a mouse weakness? Or a parasite boring painfully through flesh? Or a chimpanzee beating a neighbouring chimp to death?

Was the pyroclastic flow that ended Heracleum's citizens a cruel death because they were too weak to survive, or because it was an awful way to die?
