I have read a couple short stories I liked a lot, and a couple New Yorker essays that seemed to me a classic case of “just because you’re great at fiction doesn’t mean you’re great at reporting,” but I’d definitely recommend giving this a try if you’re at all inclined.

After the VTech shooting a dean banned the use of stage weapons that weren’t obviously fake.

DC hasn’t had as much in the way of protest diversion as other cities, so I’m not sure about this. MPD presence hasn’t really changed in my neighborhood one way or the other

Paying for news helps, but it’s usually not sufficient, because those outlets are still making decisions all the time about what to cover. If you’re subscribing but not reading, or if what you’re reading isn’t what made you subscribe to begin with, you’re creating incentives you don’t want followed.
