Wrote about the new Uk’mek Trail built just for mountain biking in Kejimkujik National Park last year for Saltscapes Magazine, and enjoyed it so much, I rode it again this fall for the colours by the Mersey River.

The Gulf Stream is threatened by climate change. A beautiful, summer-long art exhibition in the UNESCO town of Lunenburg, Nova Scotia by 2 Canadian & 1 Norwegian artist is bringing attention to the issue. Here’s my story. bluedotliving.com/the-current-...

“The Spinning Top” (aka Haut-fond Prince Lighthouse) in the St. Lawrence River—I got to see it close up on a boat tour last fall from #Tadoussac, #Quebec at the mouth of the #SaguenayRiver. Built in 1964, it’s rumoured to be for sale, price $1.

Stargazers at Stonehenge were treated to a magical sight as the Perseid meteor shower rained shooting stars over the prehistoric monoliths. Astrophotographer Josh Dury combined 43 images of the meteors, Stonehenge and the Milky Way to create this image.

After a tour with Mayan guides into Mexico’s beautiful wilderness area, Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve near Tulum, I stayed at boutique Jashita Hotel on a quiet Soliman Bay beach. Read about it in Travel Life Magazine.

Exploring Anticosti Island, Quebec, we discover a shelf of rock surrounds it and has claimed many a ship. Graveyard of the St. Lawrence it's known as. We visited the Calou B at the western end and the Wilcox on the north shore. #anticosti #sepaq #shipwreck #travel #coastline #island #canada #quebec

Drink sake within a year of brewing, I learned in Japan. But koshu or aged sake can be decades in the barrel. Samples at Koshunoya, Awaji Island prove koshu is as complex as any good whiskey.

Here’s another breath of fresh air blown in from Shikoku Island, Japan, where I cycled beside the river they call Niyodo Blue for its purity. Mmm, I can still smell the cedar forest and feel the breeze.

Well, let’s see, for a first post on a new platform that’s an alternative to toxic X, how about a nice bike ride to clear the head and engage the body. Last month along the Niyodo River on the island of Shikoku, I rode and explored one of the most traditional regions of Japan.
