The thesis statement of this au is 'what if a power of friendship type magical girl meets a bunch of dark/deconstructive/'magic powers that eat your soul' type magical girls *and still manages to save the day*.

I cannot emphasize this enough: Yuma is meant to represent an archetypal power of friendship and hope magical girl in this au.

-I needed a low level antagonist for the orphanage arc of the AU who could act as a recurring bully for Michael before the actual plot kicks in later. I *also* needed a character Michael could duel for Shark Drake (which I wanted to be the first featured Number), so he uses Mermails. ->
