She welcomed them when she thought the separatists were a group she had to keep in line so she could stay premier. Now she is trying to walk back without losing their support, because if they decide to vote for the separatist party, she won't have the votes to keep her majority. She played herself.

I honestly believe that she is a self-serving idiot who let the separatists cart run in front of the pipeline horse. She thought she could contain and use the separatists, but after Venezuela and the threats to Greenland, the politics in Alberta shifted, and she's in trouble.

Thanks, we really don't need help running our government from any USian.

She's an idiot who thought she could use the separatists to influence building pipelines, but has now painted herself into a corner. If she goes hard at the separatists, they will abandon her and the UCP, and she is guaranteed to lose the next election. It's all about her personal power.

Can we petition Trump to accept them as refugees like he did with white South Africans? Everybody wins, they get old white men who have more guns than brains, and we get these people out of our country.

What part of hegemony did you not understand? I don't want to absorb the US. If they want to succeed and form their own thing, all the power to them. But they have chosen this path over decades. Grafting themselves onto another country will make that country worse, not them better.

Excuse me, but as an Albertan, WTF. 20% of Albertans are traitors, but nearly 50% of Michigan voted for Donald Trump, and you would prefer them to be Canadians over me? Seriously, give your head a shake. They only want to leave because fighting is too hard. Canada is, at best, their second choice.
January 30, 2026 at 12:32 PM
I will not be. I'm tired of being asked to support US causes when they couldn't care less about us. 1200 Canadians will lose their jobs today because GM is moving jobs to Kentucky due to tariffs that at best they apologize for. I'm going to support the Canadian economy.

The US has always had a problem with fascism. Many of your intellectuals in the 20's and 30's supported and praised Hitler's regime. American companies sold goods to Germany that were used to help the war effort, while your government stayed out of the wat until the final years.

Americans may have short memories but the rest of the world remembers.

Americans are impatient and when the Democrats don't immediately fix the problems caused by the Trump administration, you will elect whatever new MAGA leadership representative the Republicans put up. Then this cycle of tariffs will continue. Better to divest as much as possible now.

Here's the problem with your friendship now: it can be pulled out and used against any ally at the pleasure of your leadership. Americans will likely vote for a Democrat in 2028 but the damage done to your government institutions will take decades to fix.
