DMZ reviews stories in various mediums and interviews creatives. I’m trying to get back into it but it’s been a hard year. Latest interview: Raelke Grimmer, debut YA neurodivergent author who wrote a neurodivergent protag. DMZ content is free.
Thomas Sewell has a string of offences apparently and I think he was out on bail and/or parole when he was videoed at Camp Sovereignty.
Dezi Freeman is a nutter who’s been a danger to others for years, according to media reports since that shooting.
Why didn’t police act?!
December 16, 2025 at 5:19 AM
Yep. I expected shooters to be connected to neonazis. And I’m appalled that they’re allowed to “rally”, have offensive signs (eg anti Semitic), and the police didn’t arrest any of the offenders in Melb until days after their assaults at Camp Sovereignty and then only cos public outrage.

I’m fairly well informed, furious we don’t have a tax or “future fund” like Norway, etc.
I’ll check out alternative candidates in my electorate but tbh it’s a die hard Labor area because the LNP would seek to performatively deport most of the people (69% new Aussies).
Our council, Labor, is SHIT.
December 16, 2025 at 5:16 AM
Also the people blaming unis and our government are usually claiming that protesting against genocide in Gaza, recognising a Palestinian (two) state solution etc are “antisemitic” and encouraging people to murder Jews. Goebbels would be proud of Netanyahu I think. (N claimed Ahmed is a Jew too)
December 16, 2025 at 3:26 AM
I am surprised and pleased however that Albo stood up to Netanyahu’s accusations re the govt causing the shooting. We don’t have a binary choice between the murder of Palestinians and the murder of Jews. We can choose no murder, live and let live. And surprisingly Albo took that path.
December 16, 2025 at 3:20 AM
Albanese is a weasel imo. He presented well in the 2022 campaign then broke the really important promises made re climate change, transparency, ICAC, etc. If it wasn’t for Dutton (shudder) and Trump showing what the LNP would/could do, Albo would’ve lost this year. Labor needs to wakeTF up.
December 16, 2025 at 3:19 AM
that extremist preacher who preached about k*****g Jews and months ago a court found he vilified Jews etc. So why wasn’t the shooter on a watch list? And why didn’t police know about that during the presser over 12 hours after the shooting?
December 16, 2025 at 3:17 AM
I was devastated when I learnt they were calling Port Arthur a conspiracy, but that’s what the drivers of USA toxic culture do.
This week is weird: Monday am police “knew little” about shooters, said the gun owner always behaved well etc. Mon pm ASIO “knew” him and he’s allegedly linked to…
December 16, 2025 at 3:17 AM
yes!!!
December 16, 2025 at 3:13 AM
also in 2022 @albomp.bsky.social ran on getting conflicts of interest and consulting firms out of govt. Instead he has an AI billionaire advising on AI, Tesla exec advising on R&D - waste of govt $, conflicts of interest etc. Meanwhile Clean Energy Regulator cut about 40 ICT jobs in 2024.
December 16, 2025 at 3:12 AM
often those accounts are AI to “promote engagement” or they’re trolls, bots, or paid agents. That one might well be working to push weapons manufacturers’ agenda and to justify genocide.
December 15, 2025 at 1:30 AM
You’re welcome. Years ago a good friend sent a card with the sentiment “LIfe’s too short to drink bad coffee” along with some excellent coffee. Remember that! Don’t engage. It’s better for you now and better for you later when the algorithm doesn’t serve you that crap. Also…
December 15, 2025 at 1:30 AM
IMO Labor is trying to have it every way: they’ve said they are NOT the union party but they want to appeal to workers while their policies and spending (eg consultants) benefit big companies NOT the 99% while increasing climate change and fking over the economy.
December 15, 2025 at 1:27 AM
it seems that Greens and Labor behaved like siblings sledging each other, and Greens have sometimes voted against their policies to undermine Labor. HOWEVER, IMO Labor is right of the Fraser govt. Greens should see them as right wing now, NOT a “fellow left wing” party, not “family” at all
December 15, 2025 at 1:26 AM
they were the one I *intended* to block but had to try a second time. They’re all “gun laws don’t work” and being provocative and, I think, racist, at a time where Australians are in shock, standing with the Jewish and Muslim communities, and are calling for gun laws to prevent 6 gun ownership.
December 15, 2025 at 1:23 AM
IMO you should block Hoe or you increase their prominence in the algorithm.
Also, yay you for your response. 100% correct and on point.
Also Ahmed al Ahmed is apparently a migrant so Pauline et al can get in the bin.
December 15, 2025 at 1:20 AM
I can’t remember the name, I just have a vague impression of their pic. Otherwise it’d probably be easy. It’s probably too hard.
December 15, 2025 at 1:16 AM
wow. I wonder if he’s from Israel-occupied Syria or elsewhere in that region. Either way, it makes his selflessness more heroic because he’d know what Israel is doing there. And he saw the difference between that and innocent Jews celebrating Chanukah, and put himself at risk, took 2 bullets.
December 15, 2025 at 1:10 AM
I prefer Albo and the ALP over the LNP and thank God we didn’t get Dutton. However, I wanted a minority govt held in check by a strong cross-bench, the likes of David Pocock, Barbara Pocock, the Greens (when they’re at their best) etc. Fingers crossed for the next election.
December 15, 2025 at 1:08 AM
I still don’t understand how Ghandi and Mandela did it but they lead peaceful protests and brought about amazing change. Same with the civil rights movement in the USA. The people who died were peaceful protestors, who became martyrs. Meanwhile the Berlin wall & USSR fell because oppression fails
December 15, 2025 at 1:07 AM
Years ago there was a saying but it eludes me right now. Something along the lines of NOT “go back to where you came from” but “don’t bring that sh*t here”.
I’m appalled by the pandering to the pro-genocide crowd. Can’t they see the damage they’re doing? I guess not.
No violence. No murder.
December 15, 2025 at 1:07 AM
this was the worst mass shooting in Australia in about 30 years, since Port Arthur. Australia’s gun deaths per year are infinitesimal compared to US figures where guns are the leading cause of death for children of certain ages.
Australians are calling for stricter gun laws. Get in the bin.
