20 years ago, my friends and I first reported on a local road near our home town being renamed Obi-Wan Kenobi Street. The news immediately made rounds on various Star Wars websites, including TheForce.net, and the street itself eventually got an entry on Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Obi-Wan...)!

I have it as well, was hoping to maybe get it autographed one day, but...

Indiana Jones & The Great Circle is a fantastic adventure game, but seriously how can you hit us with visuals like these and not include a photo mode??

#glitchgallery Spare a thought for this stormtrooper who got thrown so hard against a railing by an explosion, he was almost torn in half...

Hey, so how about a Star Wars Outlaws #glitchgallery ? I'll start...

Some new shots from Star Wars Outlaws, realised I can still submit one more for the Photomode contest, so went snappin' and these just weren't good enough..

One more Star Wars Outlaws pic. Wasn't able to properly set exposure for this frame in SDR mode, kinda managed to get it right in HDR mode, I think?

Tatooine's a great place for these speederbike tricks btw, you can get places you clearly wasn't supposed to...

Hey, did you know you can use your speederbike to jump on top of Docking Bay 94?

There's a Star Wars Outlaws Photomode Contest running right now, so I sent a couple of screenshots their way. Here's a couple that didn't make the cut.

In 2011, I had the honour of working as interpreter for the original Boba Fett himself, Jeremy Bulloch. After the event, Jeremy gifted me a copy of his autobiography and was kind enough to autograph it too! He really put the Star in Star Wars.

Can't help but feel like the Wild Card DLC is just way too short... The space casino had potential, and yet it's gone before you can really take it all in. The final boss is a joke, and after the story wraps up you can't help but wonder will they ever pick up all the loose plot threads on display...

Big challenge when translating games from English to a language like Polish are inflections verbs & adjectives get based on gender. Consider a segment: "[Player1] healed [Player2]". In PL, the word "healed" should account for male/female/neuter Player1 name. Wasn't the case at first for Left4Dead...

New Witcher book title and cover revealed. In bookstores 29th November, the Polish version at least. Title roughly translates to Raven's Crossing, the book is said to focus on Geralt's early monster slaying days.

Just found out Steam tracks product activation dates, so I went back to see when I got the beta for Left4Dead. That's the ValveTestSub 830 entry from 30 June 2008. So, thankfully, well before localisation started.
November 21, 2024 at 12:04 PM
In game localisation, context is crucial. Take Supergiant's Transistor - initial build I got wouldn't run, so I had to use best judgment. One of the segments simply read "BIKE", and I assumed "bicycle" and moved forward. It was only in linguistic testing that I found out it's actually "motorbike"...

This game has a fantastic photo mode btw, especially if you can use all the RTX effects. HDR implementation isn't great though, curious to see if there are improvements after the latest patch...

Back in 2008, we had less than two months to complete localisation of Valve's Left4Dead. This was impossible to pull off in-house because a) we were understaffed, b) we only had one gamer who understood the material, and c) our PCs were incapable of running the game to perform linguistic testing...
