I am a gay leftist Hedgehog that likes various things like: Doctor Who/MCU/Anime and Manga/Green Bay Packers
each of them so far. The Art is mostly good. I thought the fight bettween Tenko and Ubume was not great choreographed. The fight in the prologue was better. But overall It’s a solid volume with a good basis for a story that can become great or might fizzle out into nothing special. We‘ll see.

thing I ranted about for way too long now lol. Anyways the Stoy outside of the World Building is solid so far. Mainly it’s just bringing all the main characters together and establishing them in this Volume. We barely establish the Story that will be told so far. The Characters are good. I like

back if she wanted to. So clearly there are ways, so the existence of Mujina‘s can clearly only be something that is politically wanted and not a unfortunate side effect. Plus if Mujinas were politically wanted then they could exist even without the 85+ lose their rights laws. But that’s a minor

It’s not like I could just give away my citizenship even if I wanted to become stateless. Sure statelessness can happen accidentally. But this series implies that losing it can be a choice while also staying in the same country. And this Series even mentions that Juno could go back and get her pass

The Reason for the Mujinas existence I don’t quite buy. It’s said that because all over 85 lose this pass they established, it also created the possibility of people losing or relinquishing their pass earlier. But even in such a system there should be failsaves for that not to be happening.

but we don’t really see how it affects the people. Because so far the Problems of Juno and Terumi are not ones exclusive to this World. Same for all the Side Characters. Except the Mujinas themselves but again even for them the consequences are more talked about than rather shown

don’t get exactly what the purpose of that was. But it didn’t bother me, just was a weird way to start the story. The Story is good so far. The Society shown is an interesting set up. We‘ll see if they do something interesting with it down the line because so far it’s just mostly explained

Merry Christmas to you too.

I wasn’t necessarily shocked or surprised by the events. They are still depicted well but I didn’t have the level of interest that I had in volume 1.
Still overall a solid volume.

And nope in Volume 1 clearly Mizuki kills him. And then I understood that the version of Events was what she wanted everyone to believe so of course it’s depicted wrong. That’s cool. Makes me wonder if there are more subtle discrepancies.
Storywise the rest of the Volume is pretty straightforward.

But idk maybe next volume will surprise me with something.

That being said I did not expect the „retcon“ in the end. I did go back to the last volume after I read this to see if I misremembered something or if it was left vague and I filled in something I shouldn’t have.

There isn’t a meaningful payoff yet to knowing the whole story. And while that very well may still come in Volume 3, I think something closer to Volume 1 structurally would have been better. With them in the present finding out stuff and we getting the flashbacks to it.

Arnaud confirming once again what we all know. But please by all means tell them once again that they are „unrealistic“
