Does Facebook continue to succeed because it's a better product, or because they captured significant market share? Are both required?
What about the social media site formerly known as Twitter?
In both cases it seems to be more about the network than the product. Lots of ads and bad content.

We use a lot of serverless/IaC at work and recently had to make a choice between explicitly spelling out the steps in a workflow vs. calling a container and letting it handle 2-3 additional responsibilities - run ETL, clean up, etc.

Age-old question: how loosely coupled should your app be? It's a spectrum and not either/or though.
Block in a lambda and update a cloud DB, like Dynamo, or push a notification and trigger an update from there?
I'm generally inclined towards loosely coupled, but not everything requires it.
