Siding is now complete. All that’s left is to wire, insulate, and Sheetrock/tape/texture the sunroom… and about a decade of trims and finishes.🤪

Wandering around Japan for two weeks

I feel your pain. We had to put our little Ru to sleep last week… she would have been 17 in November… she went easy, it wasn’t so easy for me.

And here it is with the last window installed.

I went out to plug in the car and there was a weird flash/streak in the sky. It lasted about 3 minutes, then it was gone.
April 5, 2025 at 12:28 PM
Then I had surgery on my foot so construction slowed WAY down
March 7, 2025 at 5:07 PM
Then I installed laminate flooring… and hired out the cabinetry.

March 7, 2025 at 4:50 PM
The easier stuff he provided instructions and loaned us tools
March 7, 2025 at 4:47 PM
Like some of the more complicated framing
March 7, 2025 at 4:44 PM
Then framing framing framing… we hired a proper contractor for the hard stuff
March 7, 2025 at 4:42 PM
We dug footings and made a porch
March 7, 2025 at 4:38 PM
So we dug sewer lines and poured concrete (we hired proper help for the concrete, this time)
March 7, 2025 at 4:29 PM
In 2022 we decided that we could have a straw bale house or retire at 62, but probably not both. We therefore chose to finish the barn and convert it to a “barndominium.”

So we got a cargo container, emptied the barn into it and moved back into the camper
March 7, 2025 at 4:24 PM
We were originally going to build a straw bale house, so we started with the barn (to keep the straw dry) and we made the future woodshop into living quarters. Unfortunately, we ran out of money so we stopped for six years

We started this process in 2016…the play structure was the first thing so that Haven would have somewhere to play.
