I have heard of them! My work is very, very niche so to illustrate talks I have to either violate copywrite, pay money I don’t have, use no/bad illustrations, or use AI. And in this very limited use case it’s pretty good!

If they were committed to paying attention. There’s real value to illustration (there are whole economies built on memes, after all), but it’s completely cost-ineffective when you give a lot of different talks to small audiences. If I get famous and publish a book, I’ll use a human.

I get 4-5 recruiting emails a week. All from red state universities. All immediately trashed.
