Why? Because unlike the boomer wet dream example used, a 4 bed Victorian derelict home today cost >£650k, not £24,000 (£131,520 in 2025) & doer-uppers don't come with a council refurbishment grant of £3,500 (£19,180 in 2025).

Empty home crisis: Why aren't they being used to solve shortages?
