Yes, that too. I find roots and vines and tendons so much more appealing than wires and circuits.

Oh, 100%. A lot of horror stories are, at their core, about control. Or about something directly related to control (or lack thereof)

Yes, it's a Jewish folktale about a woman who was murdered on her wedding day. Some people find her body, and a drunk man jokingly puts a wedding ring on her finger and recites the blessing given by a groom under the chupah. She then haunts him until she's given a proper burial by Jewish law.

Same! It's funny in a way, because I do actually like bugs and ants. I've been working on writing more body horror recently, and I'm pretty sure at least part of my aversion to it comes from that scene.

One queen (on a forcibly rotating basis) and it's a traumatised little girl...

Thanks for running this, Mary!

I have a gothic horror novella set in 1926, in which 9-yr-old Rosalyn plays a make-believe game of a Royal Court with 4 other girls. All of them want to (need to) be the Queen... Things escalate. Badly.🍀🔨👑

I have the 15 minute extended version on my writing playlist -- I use it to time how long I've been writing a scene for.

Yep, that's the one! I am literally listening to Forest Theme and The Girl in Red (Ginger's Wolf theme) on repeat when I'm writing it!

I would have to choose the dolls very carefully to make sure I'd be comfortable with their respective gazes, that's for sure!

That's very much what I was thinking of!
