I did a quick drawing on my phone so of course it's not perfect. The point of the reply was more that there is a trend and the last point isn't some crazy outlier. Where the actual line is doesn't really matter for the point to make sense.

I certainly don't trust them (or rather, I trust them to lie), but this doesn't look unusual. It looks like a continuation of the trend since 2023. The last time there was a jump this big is right about where the trend starts.
